2500 TC & S parts compatibility?

Postby JamesJohnson on Wed May 26, 2010 5:20 am

Hello people,
I'm considering buying a 2500 TC that's in less than ship-shape condition with the intention of fixing it up. Available at the same time is a 2500 S which might be in better driving condition (yet to inspect). Essentially need to know how close the two models are, as we might be able to purchass the two together, I've done some research but am unsure if most of the parts will be interchangeable or not?
Prices also seem to vary dramatically between sites. Any ideas on a slightly worse for wear (but apparently running) 2500 TC with body, steering & tuning issues?

Very interchangeable.

Only differences I can remember (on the S)

Antiroll bar on front
Better gauges / dash panel
Velour seats instead of vinyl or half/half
Alloy wheels
Slightly higher / softer springs
Different badges / front grill

Depending on year of TC - different carbs and inlet manifold and possibly slightly different camshaft profile.

Think that's it.

Can't comment on price unless I know which country you're in. Edit your forum profile so we can see :D

Thanks for the prompt reply mate, the similarity between models is good news. As you can see I've uploaded some pics. I haven't directly inspected it yet, but it looks like the interior is in good nick. The visible rust holes look pretty bad though, along with steering issues and the host of other complexities that will no doubt come with a car in this condition it looks a bigger project than we'd anticipated.

I had imagined keeping the TC in blue and using the S for parts, but didn't know the TC was so rusty, so it appears the S may be in much better condition. Also with substantial repairs needed on the TC panels this means the colour is no longer important as it'd need new paint anyay. I'm yet to get a price on the S, but I do have some pictures, and though it looks mediocre in brown we may have to think about the practicalities rather than just the fact that the TC looks nicer.
